The kids were out of school for spring break Monday April 7th thru Monday the 14th. Jeremy was in training in Maryland for UPS so I decided to take the kids to North Carolina to visit family. I didn't want to pay for a hotel the whole week so we left home early Thursday morning and got back late Sunday night. We got to the hotel in Charlotte around 3:30pm and got all settled in. About an hour later we left to pick up my dad and go to my Granny & Paw Paw's house. Got stuck in some bad traffic for awhile but finally got there. It was a nice night spending quality time with all of them. Got back to the hotel late but hey it's spring break right!?
Friday we met up with some of my family at a place called Shrimp Boat. I got to hang out with my cousin April & her son Bryson, Rebekah, her husband Donnie, their son Josh and also my cousin Daniel. We laughed over some old photos of us as kids and got to know each other as adults. Poor Daniel, Natalie was running his ears off. When he got up she turned to Donnie. Haha. The kids were so excited to spend time with their family. Daniel & Donnie went fishing so the girls and I took the kids to the Schiele Museum. After checking out the inside we walked the trail outside. It was such a beautiful day out & my kids were so happy to be out of the car. April had to go to work so Rebekah & I took our kids to a place called Tony's for ice cream. They make it themselves there and it is soooo good! It gave us a little time to chat while the kids were enjoying their treat. As we were casually walking out Rebekah realized that April was waiting for her to pick up Bryson. I headed over to my Granny's house and Rebekah came over with Bryson & Josh a few minutes later. My uncle Phillip was already over there. My Dad called to see what I was doing and I told him we were hanging out at Granny's since I didn't know what time he would be done at his doctors appointment but that he should come over and hang out. The kids played in the yard with their cousins and I chatted with my dad, uncle Phillip, cousin Rebekah & Aunt Julie. It was getting late so Rebekah & I took all the kids back to her house to hang out. We finally got on the road around 10:30 and headed to the hotel. Another late night but it was worth it. I had a great day with my family!
Saturday morning the kids actually slept in until 9:30 am. I don't think they have ever done that! Matthew says "it's almost lunch time." I laughed so hard. I told him "no Matt, this is what time most people get up on Saturday." So we got ready and headed out to meet Uncle Phillip, Daniel, April, Bryson, Rebekah, Donnie, Josh & Allisa (Rebekah's daughter) for lunch at a mexican restaurant. Afterwards we went bowling with my other cousin Brad, his wife Cori & their two kids Aliyah & Nathan. It was great to see them and meet Cori for the first time, just wish we had more time together. As I was leaving them my Dad called and asked if we were going to come see him. We headed over to his house around 4:00 and stayed until around 8/8:30pm. It was nice, we got to chat for awhile and he showed me some of the things that are important to him. He loves to work in his garden and mess with his computers. I have over the last 5 years gotten to know my dad better than I did as a kid. It was nice to see what he enjoys and also sad to see he is kind of lonely. I had to get the kids some dinner and into bed so that we could make church in the morning.
Sunday I rushed around trying to pack the car and get us ready for church as fast as I could but we just didn't make it. I decided to head on over to my Granny's to spend some extra time with them and my Dad. We looked at the pictures I brought down and I talked with my Paw Paw & dad while the kids played outside. When it was time to head out I said goodbye and my dad walked us out. He took a picture of me and the kids in front of a beautiful bush in front of the house that he kept talking about. I had Matt take a picture of my dad & I in front of some pretty blooming trees. The kids gave my dad some pictures they had made for him and gave him hugs bye. I was getting really frustrated with the kids and was kind of rushing to get on the road. My dad came over to my side of the car and said "Do I get a hug?" I hugged him and told him I'm sorry but I'm so tired and need to get home. He told me to drive safe and we went on our way. On the way home he called me a few times to tell me of places he thought I might be able to get NC shirts for the kids. Since my phone was dying I had my husband call him one time. Later my husband told me how my dad was saying he was so proud of us and so glad we have each other. It has always meant alot to me that my dad likes, no loves Jeremy. I finally got home tired and all but so glad I made the trip. I had the BEST time with my family!!!!
If you want any of these pictures send me your email address and I will gladly forward them on over!
